“Here’s one I made earlier.”

In preparation for Teach-A-Friend-To-Homebrew-Day, I’m making my “made earlier” batch. It’s a blonde ale, extremely simple:

(10 gallons)
12lb Maris Otter
1lb Crystal 60
2 oz Kent Goldings whole hops @ 60
3 oz Kent Goldings whole hops @ 10
Safale US-05 dry yeast, w/1.040 starter

Mmmmm!!! Those Kent Golding hops smell AMAZING.

So the goal is, 1 week primary, 1 week secondary, and 1 week on the keg for half this batch. That should make it drinkable… just. The other half gets the same 1 week primary, a 2 week secondary, and then while we’re mashing on TAFTHD, we’ll keg this batch for our “Here’s one I made earlier” moment. On TAFTHD, we’ll be making a Sam Adams clone, including the decoction mash.

Good man. Good call. I will have the dregs of my scotch ale and octoberfest. Whatever’s left after the Halloween party.

Hell. Maybe I should brew again just in case.
